CONCERTS

Welcome to 2007-2008 | The 35th season!

This season we present three captivating programs in Seattle and the Eastside. Our first concert, Northern Lights II, showcases the music of the Baltic region with works by ncluding works by Tchaikovsky and Chesnokov. There are four performances of this holiday concert, in a Saturday family matinee on December 8. Especially convenient for eastside residents, we offer two performances at Bothell's Bastyr University on December 15.

Explore the genius and continuing influence of J.S. Bach at our March concert, which juxtaposes Bach's beloved motets with contemporary and Romantic works inspired by the master. Included are Bach's masterpiece Jesu, meine Freude, and Norwegian composer Knut Nystedt's haunting Immortal Bach.

Be transported by Rachmaninov's moving, timeless choral masterpiece based on ancient Russian chant, and considered the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox church. With its enormous range of color and virtuoso choral writing, the Vespers exemplifies Rachmaninov's authoritative use of choral orchestration and truly expresses the voice of the human heart.
